The event was attended by over 300 Georgian guests, including the First Lady, Mrs. Schevardnadze, and her daughter. Abstract: The "Care for Each Other" Georgia Health Campaign was launched on June 13, 2000. The event was attended by over 300 Georgian guests, including the First Lady, Mrs. Schevardnadze, and her daughter. The Minister of Health and the USAID Mission Director opened the event which included a mini concert by one of Georgia's most popular pop musicians, Dato Yevgenidze, as well as a lottery drawing. Radio Fortuna, Georgia's most popular national radio station, aired a live call from the MOH Head of Maternal and Child Health to the campaign hotline, Georgia first national toll-free hotline ever.|This clock will hang in clinics in targeted regions. less

Notes: The Johns Hopkins University/Population Communication Services (JHU/PCS) health communication program in Georgia is designed to support and strengthen Georgian families by providing public information services and education for married couples to assist them in making an informed choice regarding healthy family planning. The goal of the program is to improve the health of women and families by increasing the use of modern methods of contraception as an alternative to abortion.|JHU/PCS will promote family planning on a national level using national media combined with local media and community mobilization activities in the regions of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Gori. The program will provide training for doctors from family planning cabinets in counseling/interpersonal communication and will support doctor training in contraceptive technology. Doctors and clients will also be provided with print materials on modern family planning methods. A family health logo will identify participating family planning cabinets and will be promoted in the media. A national hotline will provide information about modern family planning and will refer clients to local family planning cabinets. Additional training will be provided for counterparts in the field of health communication. less
