It responds to the fact that hundreds of youth organizations have already joined the fight against AIDS throughout Africa; and although their gains have been impressive, their approach remains tactical rather than strategic. Africa Alive! provides the inspiration and means for those organizations to work together and to scale up the response toward AIDS on a regional level. Formerly scattered activities in the fight against AIDS are becoming part of a well-developed, coordinated strategic effort by Africans to address their crisis effectively. Nearly 100 public and private sector organizations have joined forces in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe; each country formed a National Working Group, whose regional Board of Directors meet three times a year, usually at the project office in Durban, South Africa. less
