|  | Abstract: CD features a collection of “better practice” communication materials for malaria prevention and treatment. It compiles examples of higher quality communication materials and tools for adaptation by malaria communication programs in the field. It is aimed to improve malaria prevention and treatment, or raise general awareness about the disease and the way it affects the quality of life of individuals... more Abstract: CD features a collection of “better practice” communication materials for malaria prevention and treatment. It compiles examples of higher quality communication materials and tools for adaptation by malaria communication programs in the field. It is aimed to improve malaria prevention and treatment, or raise general awareness about the disease and the way it affects the quality of life of individuals and groups. Materials selected for inclusion:
1. Are innovative, have made an improvement, and/or set a precedent
2. Have the potential for measurable positive impact
3. Can potentially be replicated and/or adapted because they:
a. Are clear and easy to understand
b. Include consistent messages that were medically correct at the time of production.
c. Target a distinct audience
d. Show compatibility between audience and reading level, and between visuals and text
e. Include a call for action and a linkage to services
f. Are not older than five years
All materials are cataloged by subject and some materials are also cataloged according to the particular campaign with which they were associated.
Materials on this CD-ROM were developed prior to the WHO’s 2006 release of Guidelines for the Treatment of Malaria. The treatment recommendations provided in this compilation, therefore, may no longer be effective in your area. A future edition of this CD-ROM will contain updated materials on Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies (ACTs), along with additional tools and strategies for local adaptation.
