New Tools for Church and Community Leaders Addressing HIV/AIDS - 'CALLED TO CARE'

Two new tools were recently launched in Abuja, Nigeria, at the International Conference for AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA). They were produced by the Strategies for Hope Trust ( www.stratshope.org ).

A NEW TOOLKIT FOR CHURCH AND COMMUNITY LEADERS

  • TOOL NO. 1 - Tool No. 1, 'Positive Voices', is a 40-page booklet of testimonies by 14 African religious leaders (12 Christians, two Muslims) who are living with or personally affected by HIV. Five of the authors spoke at the launch of 'Positive Voices'.
  • TOOL NO. 2 - The second title in the 'Called to Care' toolkit, 'Making it Happen', is a 44-page mini-manual which aims to guide and support church groups through the processes of planning, establishing and managing an HIV/AIDS project.

FROM: Ms.Shobha Mocherla, Audio-Visual Producer, Central Audio-Visual Unit, L V Prasad Eye Institute We are to arrange a series of patient education forums one every month from now on and I seek your help in this regard: If you have any information on eye care after different kinds of surgeries, be it as posters or brochures, please think of sending us a copy.

We are also trying to position poster boards in the lounges where posters on diabetes, smoking, cancer, sight and similar health topics are to be publicised. We are currently trying to compile videos and posters for our patients on these health aspects. Please help us if you can!
