1. NEW ----HEALTH COMMUNICATION MATERIALS OF THE MONTH

VOTE ON THE HOT TOPICS OF THE MONTH!
Over the next year, HCMN members will receive an email each month offering resources about materials and materials development on a specific health communication topic (offering links to searches, Internet resources, organizations, etc.), with much of that information coming from HCMN members.

--If HCMN members are interested in doing so, we can also run discussions about the particular issues and challenges related to developing materials on the topics.

--This is a good opportunity for all of us to share our experiences in materials development, pretesting, dissemination, monitoring, and evaluation.

--The accumulated information will be shared via email and via the HCMN website.

--Below is our start on a list of several topics, but we need you to vote on your preferences, or suggest new ones - see information on how to vote below.

Antiretroviral therapy

FP/HIV integration
Violence against Women

2. MESSAGES FROM MEMBERS

Here are some messages from our members:

FROM: Nduka Ozor ():
CENTRE FOR HIV/AIDS AND STD RESEARCH, Lagos, Nigeria

I am into BCC through magazine productions for the general public, I want something real that can reflect in contents that will impact in changing behaviours. I will want information that can reflect in our environment and make meaning when people are reading through it. I will like to be creative about this assignment. Also I will like to know how to monitor the progress made through reading Magazines. Practical ways of evaluating the progress and possibly improving on it.I discovered that magazine can go a long way to meeting the health challenges of our rural communities. How can we also get supports to scale up our productions.

We are a non-profit organization affliated with the Lyme Disease Association. Our purpose is to inform, face to face and on tv, radio and a LYMTIMES Magazine. We are trying to reach more doctors and other health care professionals with info on Lyme, mainly in California. We are very under educated here in Southern California on this disease; that many people have Lyme or one of its co-infactions, but are not aware of what they have and the treatment options.
